Martha Gabriel
Professional backgroundI am a teacher educator,and I've brought my love of singing into the university classroom as I teach my literacy methods courses at UPEI. I also teach courses in communications, integration of technologyinto the classroom, and qualitative research design and action research. My current research interests include elearning, new literacies, the new learners, and e-portfolios. I have a BA in psychology from the university of Toronto, an MEd in literacy from Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, and a PhD in Psychopedagogy from the University of Ottawa.

Research interests relevant to AIRSI have developed a presentation on the history of PEI through song that I shared with students in numerous schools. I also collected PEI folksongs from a number of songmakers and singers on PEI. I transcribed this music, and made it available through the PEI Council of the Arts.
Potential contribution to AIRSI hope to upload the music I collected a number of years ago into the AIRS digital library. I also am looking forward to engaging in research in the local schools to explore singing to learn.

Professional backgroundUniversity of London Established Chair of Music Education. He is President of the International Society for Music Education (ISME), elected Chair of the internationally based Society for Education, Music and Psychology Research (SEMPRE) and past Co-Chair of the Research Commission of ISME. Current Visiting Professorships include the Universities of Queensland (Australia), Limerick (Eire) and Roehampton (UK). He is also a member of the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council's (AHRC) Review College for Music and has been a specialist consultant for Government departments and agencies in the UK, Italy, Sweden, USA, Ukraine, UAE, South Africa and Argentina on aspects of music, education and teacher education.
