Dr. Frank Russo and grad student Ella Dubinsky, Ryerson University, are investigating the effects of short term choir participation on auditory perception in aging adults by examinating the way that brain cells communicate the sound that is heard, and how it is precieved and experienced. A CBC radio documentary “Rx - Sing Your Heart Out” tells the story of this study. Link

15th International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition - 10th triennial conference of the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music, ICMPC15/ESCOM10, 23-28 July 2018. Conference will take place at four locations simultaneously: Graz (Austria), La Plata (Argentina), Montreal, and Sydney Australia. Each hub will present selected materials from the other three hubs in real time and in parallel with live on-site presentations. Virtual audiences will participate in discussions, also in real time. Deadline for abstract submission is 20 November 2017 for presentations of a talk, poster, workshop, or demonstration. Link

Singing Network International Symposium on Singing & Song, St John's Newfoundland & Labrador, June 27-29, 2018- Submission deadline October 30, 2017. The conference precedes Podium (June 30-July 3), which is followed by the annual meeting of the Canadian Society for Brain, Behaviour, & Cognitive Science in conjunction with the British Experimental Psychological Society July 4 - 8, all taking place in St. John's Newfoundland!
